Bishop Eddie Long PICTURES – Bishop Eddie Long is a pastor for a church with more than 25,000 members who has been involved in a sex scandal with two young men in recent days. They filed a lawsuit claiming that Long had coerced them with gifts and intimidation into developing a sexual relationship with him. Long has been an anti-gay advocate throughout his time with the church.
Now, new pictures have surfaced that allegedly show Long taking a picture of himself in workout clothes and spandex. The shots were allegedly sent to the young men who filed the lawsuit.
The lawyer for the two men also claims that long sent them over a dozen emails, but also said that the emails were not “overly sexual” in nature. Long was set to be interviewed by the Tom Joyner Morning Show on Thursday, but canceled, and instead made his first public response to the allegations since they first surfaced.
A representative for Long admitted that Long had taken the young men on trips, but said that he had taken them along as part of a mentoring program, and denies the claims that he was involved in a sexual relationship with the men.
The gifts that long reportedly gave to the young men included cars, cash and travel, all occurring when the boys were 17 or 18 years old. Almost immediately after the allegations were made, members from the church stepped forward to defend the Bishop.

You don’t have to be a lawyer to figure this out…. It’s a KNOWN FACT that these men broke into the Bishop’s office a few months ago and were arrested. During the break in they stole the Bishop’s iPhone. What does Bishop have in his hand in the mirror? HIS STOLEN iPHONE!!!….the one with HIS PICTURES that he took of himself on it. There’s no crime in this. I have tons of pictures on my own phone that I take of myself all the time. And with Bishop being the health buff that he is, it’s not strange to me that he would take pictures of himself in his bathroom. I’m LAUGHING OUT LOUD at this evidence. And I’m sure Bishop’s lawyers are already on it…pictures from the Bishop’s stolen iPhone.
why does malinda perez’s comment read like the 6oclock news? its too neat, like a prepared statement. from the very person/s who’d want you to believe that. I dunno, just seems too plastic, oh & I read it was an IPAD, no webcam.
She has been posting the exact same comment on every website that features the Bishops incriminating pictures. Initially her comments did raise a reasonable doubt of the validity of the pictures so I googled “Eddie Long Stolen iPhone” (minus the quotes) to research for myself and every major and minor news site has her exact same statement word for word, she must be apart of his PR campaign, google it for yourself and see. ….actually…The date of the theft does not coincide with the dates that the pictures were sent to the young men… So next time before.. you assume the innocence of someone you obviously know nothing about..how about you check EVERY fact first… sweetie:)

I have no problem with a man or woman of faith looking athletic. When he’s in the pulpit he dresses accordingly to his post at that time so what does it matter?
The only thing I have a problem with is him marching and preaching against gays/same sex marriage and then possibly doing the opposite. If he’s guilty of being a hypocrite he needs to step down and deal with that with his God.
If he’s innocent then maybe he needs to readdress some issues within his male congregation just like most other churches needs to do. Homosexuality is not going anywhere and our churches need to face that fact or say good bye to their Music Ministry.
@ Jerry, You are assuming that every church music ministry has a gay director. How shallow and uninformed you are. There are plenty of heterosexual music ministers throughout the country. In case you missed it homosexuality is a sin just like adultery and fornication. Just because Pastors are compromising their ministries for the sake of music does not validate the presence of gays in the ministry. Of this you can be sure God is not pleased with homosexuality of any kind.
I’m so sorry that you misunderstood me Evangelist Green. In no way did I mean that ALL church musicians/directors/male choir members gay. Being a Minister of Music here in Los Angeles for several different sizable churches for over 35 years I believe I am somewhat qualified to make an honest assessment of church musicians here in our city and the surrounding areas. With that in mind I must say that there is definitely an inordinate number of gay people involved in church music departments. In addition, most of those churches whose music departments excel above the norm have also been those whose Ministers of Music have ties to the gay community. Why is this, I don’t know but it is fact. (We have here in Los Angeles at one time, Cornerstone Institutional BC (Rev. James Cleveland), City of Refuge (Noel Jones), West Angeles COGIC, FAME (First AME), Faithful Center Bible Church, Greater Ebenezer MBC) and a number of other smaller churches who gospel music departments are some of the best in the world and yes, you’ll find that there are some very profound gay musicians/directors/male singers in each and it’s no secret that they exist.
My gay nephew is a very dynamic musician and is in high demand (very proud of him) and has been offered many positions over the years in churches but because of the Black Church’s views on gays he opted to do secular music and only does church appearances when playing back-up for special large concerts. What a loss to the church because good music has such great drawing power.
I mean no disrespect to you when I say this, but ppl should be drawn to God by the Holy Spirit and not music.

@ Jerry, you just answered why there is an inordinate amount of gay people involved in church music. Music does have drawing power and what better way for satan to gain hold of your mind, body and spirit. Music has the ability to “invade” so to speak. If you’re sad and hear a happy song, your mood changes for the better (or you turn it off). If you’re happy and hear a sad song, it’s not long before the memories start to flood your mind and maybe even a tear will flow. I personally don’t think the church should compromise on any situation and especially not one that is descrived in the Bible as an abomination! I’d rather be musicless than tolerate the homosexuality. Now, I am NOT saying that I don’t love the person, just not the spirit within them. And just like God does us, sin must NOT be tolerated whether by public approval or silent disapproval.
Let’s remember that music is a ministry in itself. It plays a big part in the church, especially the Black church. People will always say: I gotta here me some good sangin’. Don’t yall love gospel music, good choirs that “rock”? Don’t pretend like you don’t. If you don’t get it at your church you’ll go somewhere else to hear it. Look how much money people pay to go to various concerts, Gospel fests, secular world concerts, etc. How much money do some of yall spend on them CD’s and DVD’s? How many of yall play music in the car while driving? The church is now giving what only Community Choirs and groups used to only give and they LOVE it. Take that away and these folks will start up their own choirs and groups to satisfy that need like they used to 20, 30, 40 plus years ago when community choirs and mass choirs were population. Pentecostal Community Choir (Keith Pringle) and Southern California Community Choir (James Cleveland), Helen Stephens Singers, Thompson Community Singers, New Jersey Mass, Mississippi Mass and the list goes on.
You put them gay folks out the church music department and these type of community organizations will start up again and the church folks will go to hear them. Yeah, they’ll listen to their preacher on Sunday Morning, faithfully, but when they have a gospel music mc-attack they gonna go get it.
Yall can act like New Birth members and ignore reality if you want to but it seems somehow our Creator has blessed an inordinate number of gay men with the music ability that the church loves. Not all are gay, but a lot more are than aren’t.
You take the men out of church one Sunday and folks gonna say: “Umph, attendance is kinda low today. Take the women out and they gonna ask: “Where is everybody”? LOL Maybe the focus is in the wrong place, at least these gay men are going to church. And to think some people have a problem with women in the pulpit.

Hey I’m a same gender loving Christian who loves the Lord and I hold to the same standards of holiness as the heterosexual male. I’ve been celebate a number of years, healthy and work out. I wasn’t there to attest to those allegations so I can’t pass judgment, only God knows. My concern here is why are we so quick to believe the negative about an individual, I thought one was innocent until proven guilty? Oh yeah, I don’t believe in civil unions either, marriage is between one man and one woman so I always vote against civil unions. Now you’ve heard it from a same gender loving Christian. No one knows if these alligations against Bishop Long are true or not. God knows and Bishop knows. However, we should all pray that these alligation are not true. It’s hard to find a person of God who is truely of God to guide us and lead us into the path of rightousness. We all need someone who we can trust and beleive in. If we want to get to heaven, we need to be and live Christ like, but if we don’t have the right people to teach us how, what will happen to our souls? That’s why, you should know God for yourself.
I am a Christian woman and I know that the Christian faith is always being tested in one way or another. Unfortunately I think the allegations are true. There is something about him that my spirit has never taken. From day one I have always said something about him is not right. Also, the way he has these crusades on homosexuality makes me think that they were all a cover up for what he was doing. Who is he trying to convince? People or Himself. The bottom line is if it is true then only God can judge and deal with him. If it is a lie then only God can judge or deal with the young men making the accusations. As much as I feel it is true I hope it is not because this affects the church as a whole. Not just his but all Christian churches. I understand that this is a area of great controversy for him and the entire body of Christ. What I will say is this. We as people, get so caught up in looking at the beam in someone else’s eye, that we forget about the one in ours. Roman 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” You have to understand that Eddie Long is a man, just like we all are. And in this flesh we are capable of sin. It boils down to whether we choose to participate in sin. Because it is a choice, just as living holy is a choice. If he is guilty we need to pray for his deliverance and quit placing condemnation, because we don’t have a heaven or hell to put him in. And if he isn’t then we need to pray that the Lord open our eyes to the devices of the enemy, and that we all come into the unity of Christ. So saints of the Most High, keep on praying.
Becuase of the platform God gave him, He had a resposponsibility to the Body, to live holy, yes we all make mistakes, and yes we all sin, but he created a stumbling block for babes in Christ and a rock of offense–if this is found true. I will let God judge!

I pray that this is not true about Bishop Eddie Long and I will let our courts and God give the final verdict in the matter. However, I feel this situation should only awaken the African American Church to the reality that there are men of God (Bishops, pastors, priest, ministers, etc…) that prey on young men and women in the church. Regardless of the outcome of the situation, we shouldnt take what has happened lightly, it is time for us to stop sweeping this matter under the rug, it’s time for us to step up and stop being scared to stand for what’s right.
I’m praying for everyone involved in the situation, only God knows the truth and through him justice will be served…

I believe most of the posters here have misssed the point here. It’s not the sin, most can deal with that because we all sin, the point here is the “HYPOCRISY”. Don’t preach one thing, lead marches against gays, etc. and then have gays on the DL.
The word says by two or three witnesses let every word be established. There are FOUR young men with the same story. I’m sure more will come forward, which is enough for me to beleive it to be true. There is no way Four people will risk their reputation for a lie, for money…it’s possible..but not likely…

Quit making excuses for this man…the bottom line is why would a Bishop of any kind take pictures of himself and send them to another man or boy??????? Instead of taking pictures he needs to be on his knees praying about his afflictions and ask God to help him with it. The devil is out to destroy whomever he can use…that will include men of God. What he does behind closed doors is another story as long as he is not committing acts that go against Gods will. Without judgment or extreme criticism, I want to point out a fact that most people are afraid to consider. Religion, no matter which religion, does not has the power to remove the animalistic nature of mankind. Humans are sexual creatures that have many psychological contradictions. For centuries man have tried to suppress his natural perversions and laws have been formed to curve or control those strange passions. Whether Bishop Eddie Long is guilty or innocent, his case reminds all of us of our carnal nature. Western Civilization originates from a Greek-Roman homosexual State. Read “War on the Horizon: Black Resistance to the White-Sex Assault.” On page 19 it reads:

My heart breaks for Bishop and the Body of Christ… What’s worst, the men and women of God who are excusing and pointing fingers when we have to be mindful that we are very human regardless if we are babes in Christ or mature. We will fall short because we are in these fleshly bodies. Let us not forget the examples God gave us in the Bible, Saul and even David. David was a murderer and an adulterer. But God still said, “David is a man after my own Heart.” Why would God say that about a killer and a coveter? David stayed before the Lord in prayer, repenting, and giving God glory. Why? Because he knew that he needed God to help him and keep him every day. Truth be told, we sin every day, we just don’t get caught or obviously, we are not on the same level as Bishop. This is not the time for the Body of Christ to accuse. That the devil’s job. He is an accuser of the brethren. But remember Romans 15:1 “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let us pray for the Man of God!

Sin is sin and we are all guilty of it. We all have hangups and trip-ups and we need NOT lie and say or act like we don’t. You and I will cannot put the bishop or anyone else in heaven or hell and because we can’t do that; we just need to whisper a prayer for the bishop and the accusers and let GOD handle the rest.

There has NEVER been a case where multiple accusers of a church authority were proved wrong.

Furthermore, your god, Eddie’s response to the accusations were UNDERwhelming.
God will judge in the end. He will even forgive if Eddie asks his victims for forgiveness, but in the meanwhile, Eddie could be spending more time with the law of this land while his victims’ anuses heal.

HE HAS A WIFE, AND THEY HAVE A HOME…A BIG ONE! WHY WOULD HE BE “SLEEPING” AT THE CHUCH AND NOT WITH HIS WIFE? I KNOW THE DEMANDS OF A PROFITT. MY MOTHER HAS HER OWN CHURCH ASWELL, BUT WHATS THE SHOWER FOR? WHY A FIREPLACE? AND WHY IS HE LETTING YOUNG 17 YEAR OLD MALES DRIVE HIS BENTLY, WHO IS OF NO RELATION TO HIM? AND WHY DOES HE KEEP HIS “BLACK DIAMONDS” AT THE CHURCH AND NOT AT HOME, OR IN A SAFTY DEPOSIT BOX, OR SAFE OR BANK? AND WHY DID HE SAY “I’M NOT A PERFECT MAN,” BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT! “BUT I WILL FIGHT THIS”… AND NOT, “I AM INNOCENT” AND LAST HE SAID” MY FIRST PRIORITY IS TOO MY FAMILY AND THEN THE CHURCH…AT WHAT POINT IS GOD A PRIORITY? AS A MAN OF THE “CLOTH” SHOULD GOD BE FIRST, EVEN BEFORE HIS “FAMILY?
His relationship with God is personal and what he buys with money that is made accessible to him is his business. If you had millions, you’re life style and status would change drammatically also. Apparently, the deacons and the trustees don’t see anything wrong with what he has in the church!
There is no where to go and not find sin. If we all put on blinders and stop paying attention to what everyone else in the church is doing, worry about what WE are and are NOT doing to better ourselves and our surroundings, start bulding and strengthing our own personal relationships with God; things would change for the better, in and outside of the church walls.
You know, I don’t have millions or even thousands but I’ve got everything I need and want. I don’t live in a gated community but I own a condo in Hawaii and my car is 15years old but she gets me where I need to be. I don’t covet anything that Bishop Long has or anyone else for that matter, I have learned a state of contentment so I know what Apostle Paul was speaking about in the New Testament. I am blessed. Why are you caught up in what Bishop Long has? are you not satisfied with what you’ve got, why do you need more?
Who told you all that stuff, do you believe everything someone tells you without checking to see whether or not it’s true. You’ve got way too much time on your hands to be even inquiring about things that don’t even concern you anyway

But I can’t believe a high profile minister/pastor/televangelist would endanger his entire ministry for some “fling” knowing the domino effect it would have on his family and ministry

How do you know that? Where were you when all of these so called allegations were in the making? That is how people are destroyed, someone talks about something they know nothing about then the media gets involved because it is about some high profile individual. Why do you people always believe the worst about someone before you see whether or not it’s fact or fiction
Joe you are probably still in denial about some of your own issues and what people have done or are doing to you. You may have a problem confronting people who have hurt you in the past but these boys do not. You may be able to learn a thing or two from them.
Joe, people are not judging Bishop Long, they have simply stated their opinion as you have and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I hope Bishop Long is not guilty of the allegations against him but if he is then he MUST be held ACCOUNTABLE and there is a lot for him to face if he is guilty: i.e., sin against God, the church, his wife, his family, those young men and the entire homosexual community for his hypocrisy.
The focus is on Bishop Long and very little is being said about their young men who say they have been victims. Well just like you say Bishop Long is innocent until proven guilty so do a lot of other people feel that those young men are telling the truth until they are proven otherwise.

I believe that Eddie Long did do what the boys claimed he did. I believe that he has some demons he needs to deal with. I believe that if a man comes forward in repentance I should forgive him but it angers me when a person that appears to be that vain would pretend as if he does not have a fetish for young boys. It would be wise for him to not mentor little boys without a female or a professional present. That is just the respectable way to do it. No matter what I am going with my heart and my heart says that he did do what the boys are claiming and he is not the man I thought he was. I am hurt and disappointed in Eddie Long and I no longer support him.
The Lawyers would not have taken this case on if they didn’t have strong evidence against Long.

I am not sure what is the legal age of consent in this situation, but my thoughts are (though some folks might think them silly). IF these allegations are true, were ALL these young fellas so smart that they could do what they claimed they did with this grown man without anybody (adult or otherwise)picking up signals that something might be up? If these allegations are true, were these alleged episodes one-off episodes with each of these young fellas that nothing seemed odd or different about the fellas to anyone? Where were and are the boy’s parents in all this? Regardless of a person’s social standing, discretion has to be exercised when giving out personal material especially where there is potential for varied interpretation of the giver’s motives. Granted the photos released so far are not nude photos, but care has to be taken when sending certain types of photos especially to young folks no matter how matured they seem to be, because of the ambiguity that could be ascribed to the motive for sending them. Many people want to be close to celebrities & persons with money, so such celebrities must always remember the potential for their actions making the news and costing them their reputation, money and families. Bishop Long is a man with hormones that work just like they do in all of us, he is human just like us and his libido is what it is, regardless of whether or not he is a Bishop. If he is guilty, then the appropriate system should be allowed to determine the extent of his guilt and the appropriate reward given out to not only him, but all involved. If he is not, then the appropriate system should be allowed to determine his just compensation. I have not ascribed guilt or innocence to any involved. That is not for me to do as that would not affect the course of things one way or another. I will say my own prayers for the situation.
God, I’m almost 60 years old and I would do him in an instant. A body like that should be worshipped, by every middle-aged gay in the country.

I cannot say if Bishop Long is gay or not but I can say that I remember being 17 and no one could make me do anything that I didn’t want to do. What has probably happened is these guys wanted more gifts and did not get them so they decided to attack Bishop Long. Why don’t we pray for Bishop Long instead of saying negative things about him. Bishop Long has a large congregation and is very influential. When you are doing things for Christ you are bound to be attacked, if you aren’t doing anything thent he Devil don’t need to bother you!
In order for anyone to get into Bishop’s office, they would have to have inside knowledge of the building. Have you ever tried to get into that part of the building? Impossible!!! Besides, it’s been a long known secret in the gay community, that Bishop Long was a DL brotha. The shock to us is not that he is being accused of sleeping with young men. The shock is that it took so long to come out to the light.
