Bishop Long Speaks - Bishop Eddie Long has remained mostly silent regarding the sexual allegations that have been made against him. So far four different men have stepped forward, claiming that Long brought them on international trips and showered them in gifts including cars and other expensive items in order to convince them into taking part in a sexual relationship with him. As soon as the allegations went public, Long released a statement through his representatives stating that the claims were false and that he was disappointed.

Long spoke for the first time today saying that he will “arise through this situation and go forward, and we are moving forward.” The statement was made on a call with the media, during which Long said that he had to be careful about what he said because he didn’t know who was on the opposite end of the line and the case is still in litigation. He also made it clear that he was not willing to take any questions at this time.

Long said that he has never had to deal with anything like this before, and is still figuring out a way to clear his name. Situations like this one can be hard to come back from when you are wrongfully accused, mostly because by the time the media gets ahold of the story your name has already been tarnished. It will be a long process for Long to come back from the allegations, and if they do turn out to be false, eventually reclaim his good name.
