President Elect Obama:
I write to you as the daughter of Holocaust survivors AND an activist for the Palestinian cause. My parents taught me that “Never again” means never again to anyone! Yet we see the victims of that horror carrying out the most appalling campaign of oppression on another people, the Palestinians, a campaign that started with Theordore Herzl and continues to this day.
How thrilled we have been at the prospect of change in America after the disastrous eight years of the Bush administration. You campaigned on the need for change and your promise to bring it about.
Now we hear that your first high-level appointment, that of White House Chief of Staff, has been offered to Rahm Emanuel, one of the most hard line Israel supporters you could possibly find. In Congress, Emanuel has been even more pro-Israeli sometimes than even President Bush. Now he will be in a position that is often considered the most powerful office in the executive branch, next to the president.
Apparently, over the course of your campaign, you have gone out of your way to distance yourself from anyone with “pro-Palestinian” sympathies. Now you are being commended by Ira Forman, executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council, for your stance and first cabinet appointment.
What a terrible way to start! What happened to change? What happened to your support of disadvantaged and oppressed people? A man as intelligent as you knows very clearly who the victims are in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Why have you abandoned them?
With great sadness,
Vera Szőke

I am still excited about the election speach in Chicago. I was very proud to see the different races of people there. It felt good to be proud of the USA knowing that the whole world was watching. It will be nice to have the other countries to have some respect for us again. We are all hoping that this country can straighten out all of the economy. My prayers are with you & your family. Guard well the doors of your administration to make certain that none who enter will take advantage of their position to enrich themselves at your expense. Be diligent to see that your people are “squeaky” clean and
that you do not allow even the appearance of impropriety.

Dear Mr. President elect:
Congratulations! I am a 31 year old white male from Delaware County Pa. I am employed in the United Association of Steamfitters. We are collectively a large support for you and Joe Biden. I just want to say that for my generation, you are our 1st real hero. You are our John Lennon, John F. Kennedy, Dr. MLK, and our Roosevelt all in 1 body. I am proud of you. You have actualy inspired me to consider writing a book on the experience of supporting your historic campaign and what I learned during that time. Best of luck.
Thank You,
Jeremy D. Holmes

This is a suggestion to our new President, please don’t publish. We must educate our children on responsible money management. I suggest a national campaign for a PIGGY BANK SAVINGS account for our children. This will teach them how to save and also increase deposits for our banks. To many people today do not know how to manage their finances. The FDIC currently has an adult education program out called “Money Smart” which is a computer based training aid for building knowledge, security, and conficence. We should also let our nation know what they have available to help them better control their money.
Thank you for this opportunity to get an idea out to our new Commander and Chief !!!!
