Circle Contact Lenses Before and After:Lady Gaga Contact Lenses Unsafe?

Circle Contact Lenses Before and After:Lady Gaga Contact Lenses Unsafe? – Lady Gaga is known for wearing circle contact lenses. Celebrities have always been able to start fashion trends, but Lady Gaga accidentally started one that can be detrimental to one’s health. In one recent music video, she appears to have “wider than normal” eyes. Since that video debuted, teens around the country have been copying her and wearing a similar type of contact lens that has been dubbed a “circle lens.” They are imported from Asia, and can come in a variety of designs and strange colors.
They are used to make the eyes appear huge, and “doll like.” The lens does not cover the eye like a normal contact lens does.
“In the past year, there’s been a sharp increase in interest here in the U.S.,” said Joyce Kim founder of Soompi.com. She went on to say that early adopters of the trend helped it immensely to spread to others.
Contact lenses are illegal to be sold in the US without a prescription. The new circle lenses are available online for as little as $20 to $30 per pair. Some teens can own a few dozen different pairs of the contact lenses that they switch in and out each day. The trend is one that poses a significant risk to eyes, and can even cause blindness. Contact lens’ are something that should be prescribed to users by an eye professional, as they require a special fitting to ensure that you do not do damage to your eye by wearing them.
Wearing these decorative contact lenses can lead to scratched corneas that deprive the eye of oxygen and cause serious problems to the eye.

You aren’t very smart, Lady Gaga’s eyes were made by COMPUTER GRAPHICS in that video. Michelle Phan, a youtube phenomenon, made a video where she tried to look like Lady gaga in “bad Romance”, Michelle Phan recommended the Lenses for people. I doubt Lady Gaga had ever even heard of circle lenses. You, and apparently every other news source need to get their facts straight, because it makes you all look old and out of touch.
I agree with you. Kinda make me feel sad that they think Lady Gaga found the lenses first, anime fans did. Its popular.
anime fans did not first find the circle contact lenses -_-.. it originated from S.Korea after a huge popularity to the look of “ulzzang” meaning “ul”-face “zzang”-best (best face) where girls try to look dolly faced like the girls in cartoons. Circle lenses’ popularity spread and anime people who crossplay took on the influence because it helped them look more anime. PLUS Lady Gaga DID wear circle contacts AND she used digital editing to make her eyes unnaturally big.
For SAFETY: everyone’s eyes are a little different in shape, but there is a particular lense shape that most people take on. You should check with an eye professional to see if your eyes need special shaped lenses. If circle lenses are harmful to your eyes, you will def. feel it.
FYI, Lady GaGa DO use both circle lens and color contact lens. And yes, you are right, in “Bad Romance”, Lady GaGa’s eyes were made by COMPUTER GRAPHICS, but I am sure that Lady GaGa use circle lens in her music video. If you tune in to her latest MV, “Alejandro”, you will see her eyes are green, although her real eye color are dark brown. She has been use color contact lens, BUT not circle lens.
Umm…. Being interested in Asian things and what not, one should know that it wasn’t Lady GaGa to start the circle lens fad. In fact, people who are into costume play, the Gyaru fashion style, or people that honestly just want them for the fact that they make ones eyes look bigger have been wearing them for quite some time.
NO it was not anime crossply dressers! IT WAS ULZZANGS from S.Korea. It originates from Ulzzangs (best face) who want to make their faces dolly/like girls in cartoons (manga). The look of it being dolly/anime cute is what drew in the anime crossplay folks to take in the Ulzzang’s looks. If you’re talking about just different color contacts, they aren’t “Circle Contacts”.. they’re just “color contacts” Lady Gaga did not introduce circle lenses, nor did Anime people, it was ULZZANGS.
Um, whether Gaga wore the actual lenses or not, she STILL INFLUENCED girls all across America to achieve that look and the only way normal girls (who aren’t “monsters” like Gaga)can do it is with the lenses, not the computer alteration like Gaga did.
So YES, I’m sorry to all you Gaga worshippers and lovers, but she DID START A DANGEROUS TREND and has not made any statement or anything regarding the dangers of those lenses. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF SHE ACTUALY USED THEM OR NOT, BECAUSE SHE INFLUENCED THE LOOK and she knows DAMN WELL it can only be achieved by girls with the circle lenses. Cause not everyone in America can alter their photos and videos like that. Hardly ANYONE. Straight up.
And when you said…
“I doubt Lady Gaga had ever even heard of circle lenses”
THAT WAS THE SINGLE DUMBEST STATEMENT I’VE EVER HEARD. Do you really think that Gaga, who wanted the big eye effect safely, NEVER HEARD OF THE CIRCLE CONTACT LENSES??? You sound so f****** stupid. Go back to school and stop following the Gaga bi***. Cause your unintelligence makes you come off very f****** stupid.
I don’t even think she had a say in the making of the video probably sounded cool. I don’t think you should be telling people off by the way. People will do what they want and that is all. Who are you to say what people like is wrong or in what they believe in. From your post it just shows your a Lady Gaga Hater…and im totally cool with that, but refrain from commenting back immaturely! Thank you.
try some circle lenses they aren’t that bad.
Alright get this straight!! Bad romance video was computer graphics! Lady Gaga wasn’t even the start of this. Actually it started through anime! People only wear them for costumes and stuff! Blaming GAGA is so stupid! She can do what she wants , just like everyone else.
By the way, Asian people have worn circle lenses for a long time and i have never heard of anything like this, its ridiculous. Yes, if you wear them all the time it does start to do some damage i could imagine so really, they should just be used carefully not all the time. They are used for party’s, costumes and photo shoots. I’m not a GAGA fan, but trying to blame her for this is just immature! I own some quite a few circle lenses and let me tell you i haven’t had any problems with them.
and i’ve been wearing them way before the lady gaga video. I’m an anime geek. Trust i would know.
Circle lenses have been popular way before Lady Gaga. And they’ll stay popular much longer than her too. It’s like anything, they’re as safe as you make it.
If you keep your eyes clean, follow safety instructions and don’t share your lenses you should be fine.
It’s just people worrying about nothing. They same health dangers come with any contact lens.
The person who calls themselves “Realist” needs to chill. Why so angry over a celebrity you’ve never met? Get over it, hon.
Lady Gaga is ridiculous
If you take the proper steps (see your eye doctor, check where you are purchasing these lenses) then these lenses are fine for occasional use. I work for a company visiondirect.com that sells circle lenses that are FDA certified and require a valid prescription for proper fit. Like with regular contact lenses – the fit with these lenses is a very important factor. I would suggest that anyone interested should make sure that they see their eye care professional and be informed about where they are purchasing their circle contact lenses.
Umm who loves GaGa lol yes I’m a Little Monster and ur mean and bitter and can say no more because my friend might see wat I post lol but I warn you one more bad thing about gaga and we’ll have a little chat eye to eye!! idc if ur taller than me an ax can do many things lol
No, KOREANS did NOT start the circle lenses trend.
Seems like most people keep saying koreans started alot of fashion trends :[
The Japanese started the circle lenses trend. Long before they had a trend called “Ganguro” and “gyaru” trends, which meant gals, and having big big eyes using circle lenses and fake bottom and top lashes.
They started this 10 years ago, in the early 2000 or even 1998.
Ulzzang people came way later, then the celebrities advertised them and people started wearing them all throughout asia, and spreading through USA.
