Glenn Beck Going Blind? Fighting Macular Dystrophy (Macular Degeneration) – Glenn Beck recently told a crowd that he could go blind within a year. He was speaking to more than 6,000 people during his “American Revival” tour, which had stopped in Salt Lake City. He admitted to the crowd that he had recently seen a doctor, and was given a very unfortunate prognosis.
“A couple of weeks ago I went to the doctor because of my eyes, I can’t focus my eyes…he did all kinds of tests and he said, ‘you have macular dystrophy …you could go blind in the next year. Or, you might not,” said Beck, reliving his trip to the optometrist. He also used the opportunity to take a shot at Barack Obama’s recent health care reform bill, saying that he wanted to go see the best doctor available while he still had the opportunity.
He said that he could deal with not being able to see his wife and children, because he already knew what they looked like, but jokingly said that he was most scared of having to learn braille because he was “too darn lazy.”
Macular Dystrophy is a rare genetic disorder, and causes lack of vision over a long period of time. It was the first time that Glenn Beck had made this admission in public, and was a touching subject for many of those who were in attendance.

Our family (in Australia) loves you Glenn! We are praying for your total healing. I asked that a powerful church here in Australia for this too and they responded that they will. Psalm 103 tells us that our loving heavenly Father forgives all our iniquities, heals all our diseases, redeems our lives from destruction, crowns us with loving-kindness and tender mercies and satisfies our mouths with good things, so that our youth is renewed like the eagle’s. We believe for Glenn’s wholeness and healing.

I have macular degeneration and am currently receiving the best care available. However, Glenn has every right to be concerned as Obama doesn’t want to treat this disease under his health plan or it may be too costly for the ordinary person such as myself. This is a disease mostly affecting white blue eyed folks — so, of course, it isn’t a concern for our president.
Well said, Mary. When I read some of the other comments, I became more convinced than ever that people like Glenn Beck need to continue speaking out. I knew there would be some moron commenting about karma, or some other silly reason for going blind. I’d say you all sound like children but I like children too much to insult them that way. PS. Karma works, even against people that think it only applies to others.

We have examination systems eggs go through to make sure they are not “pregnant” – did you know we protect unborn baby chicks at least making sure they aren’t skilletized?… but it’s nice you are concerned about the “growing to be born stage” of all life. Do you realize that is what you have just said? Do some more thinking about the chicken and egg thing, and the human baby and its cells and development – which you once were… can you grasp that? It’s not easy for any of us to understand so we better be careful of what we do to others to make our own lives more comfortable… don’t be tricked, there are other roads to save lives and health without taking lives.

The chicken eggs we eat are typically non-fertilized, and thus would never become an actual chick. Embryos, on the other hand, actually become humans, when they’re not injected with saline.
Also, most of the significant discoveries that have come out of stem-cell research have resulted from the work done with adult stem cells, whereas research using embryonic stem cells have had very little success, and often more problems than benefits arise. This is because adult stem cells can be found for every tissue of the body, and are usable for becoming that type of tissue cell, as well as having the ability to adapt and change into other cell types.

Glenn Beck is an amazing person. It takes some serious balls to go against the grain these days, while the Democrats are bent on brainwashing America. Obama is NOT all powerful, and he runs this country as though everyone agrees with him. He refuses to listen to anyone with another opinion, and has referred to those who oppose him as traitors, and ‘uninformed’. His agendas are not in the best interest of America. Glenn Beck is not afraid to stick up for Liberty, and the American way, by voicing objections to certain aspects of Obama’s presidency, as well as other topics that we Americans should be aware of. I find it amazing how blind a lot of people are that profess to have perfect vision. Even if you don’t agree with Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh; at least take a moment to truly open your eyes and look around. I see that Americans’ values and morals have degraded. Our Country is in great peril, from healthcare, the deficit, corruption, to greed, and insensitivity towards others. I feel like we are at that moment where our great Country is the snowball at the top of the hill about to roll down and it scares me. Not for me, but for my children and hopefully someday, grand-children. I truly hope that we can recover and become the America that we once were. I know that we can become that America again. We have the greatest Country in the world, and the best and brightest live here.
I am not a Christian, however, I believe that the 10 Commandments are not just great Christian values but values that every human should possess. If everyone would follow those simple rules the world be a much better place. And as for Glenn Beck, I hope that you get the best care possible.
