hello my name is brandy i am a sixth grade student from west middle i know what we did was wrong but we are just kids we are known to make mistakes and we are bound to make more every body makes mistakes and if your not smart enough to know that then you need to go back to first grade. all we are trying to say is that why make such a big deal out of what kids do in your life its like now this is the biggest news. how about doing something good with your life help out charity or something because if you would spend your time on something that is not that important then do it but god gave you life for a reason and your spending it the wrong way you only have one life make your choice and we do not want to see this world wide agian or else our country will be bombed soon
OMG THAT IS SO TRUE I GO THERE TOO! PLEASE EVRY ONE JUST BACK OFF!
Why doesn’t the school teach focus on teaching about diversity and tolerance?
Obviously, that’s the problem. Kids didn’t understand the severity of this “joke”.
idea, please don’t say that. We ARE taught about tolorence and diversity. I am a student there myself and I’m from a foreign country. To me, it seems like that’s all the USA is focused on. Diversity. No one stops to look at our similarities. I belive that’s the problem. After all, if we all thought of each other that were alike instead of different, we wouldn’t be going through this. After all, who would insult another if the two are similar in the same way? It would be like insulting yourself.
Sure the kids didn’t understand what was so wrong about it, but i belive that when it was said “hit on the back”, i’m pretty sure it was just a friendly tap. I’m a grade above those kids, so I don’t know a whole lot of the ACTUAL truth.
As for the “obviously, that’s the problem,” I disagree. The real problem here is that the news has nothing better to write about exept a small misunderstanding INSIDE the school. The whole state of Missouri does not need to be informed of such.
You have got to be kidding me! How does Rabbitrabbi’s comment make any sense? I sense a little hatred in your tone and I think you must be a racists!
I know this event has been over for awhile now, but I was
just reading some of he comments and felt the need
to stick up for us. I was a sixth grader when this took place
and I knew some of the kids involved in this incident.
When you people say that the disappointing part was that we
didn’t tell anyone, you are not remembering the fact
that it only occured for one day. By the time word had
gotten out that his was happening, most of the
administration already knew about it. We learned
from that experience and that you accuse us of being wrong, you have to remember that we were only kids. That doesn’t excuse our behavior, but we were not fully mature enough at the time to know what real damage we were doing. We have taken his tragedy and learned from it and we are sorry you people couldn’t accept that at the time.
Just a joke. Just having fun. Just more lame excuses from bigoted children who think singling out one group and taunting them, hitting them is funny. What’s funny is that for a group of 12-14 year olds, you’re not smart enough to get it. I’m sure your prejudice and pure hate come from those two idiots who are raising you. Your parent’s mom and dad also are haters.
Don’t try to explain your way out of what happened. Only the other bigots and KKK minded morons in society understand and agree with what you did.
Karma’s a b*tch and it will come around one day to bite you fools on the ass.
BTW, I taught middle school for 17 years, so don’t go writing off my observations and assessment of your behavior as a product of my ignorance.
Okay look, we’re talking about 6th graders now, 12 year olds. As big as they think they are at that age, they simply aren’t able to grasp the full implications of their actions. They certainly understand, however, that their actions do have consequences, but this seems completely blown out of proportion.
I went to West for one year in 6th grade, then left for a prep school, but I can swear to it that at the school the kids are taught tolerance and sensitivity to others. This doesn’t seem like a “hate crime” as spike suggested, and I highly doubt the kids who participated were true Anti-Semetics.
True, this shouldn’t have happened, but this was blown way out of proportion. I seriously doubt it was a malicious attack on Jewish students, just a few kids being kids, making stupid decisions, based in ignorance, and anyone who wants to bash them as nazis needs to grow up and stop being so radically liberal in their approach of this situation.
I was in 8th grade when this happened and how it started was started as the practical joke of half a dozen 6th graders that were poking a Jewish student. The parent got angry, reported it to the news after it had been going on for a few days. Next thing you know, it was ALL OVER THE NEWS. In reality, it was just a group of little jackasses being un-politically correct (because its “cool”) and messed with a mother whose fuse was short. No Nazis. No Jews getting beaten up. The End.
