Is Barack Obama Muslim? More Saying Yes In New Poll – A new poll has been conducted and is showing surprising results about the American public’s view of the President’s religious beliefs. Pew Research Center conducted a poll from interviews that were done even before the President’s controversial comments on the Ground Zero Mosque, and the results show that only 34 percent of people believe that Obama is a Christian—the faith he readily identifies himself with.

Many Whitehouse officials were unhappy with these results, as some believe that this could be a political danger for the Presidential family as debate continues to swirl around the Islamic mosque controversy. Joshua Dubois, the faith advisor for the Whitehouse, says that opponents of the President base the beliefs of the public on “misinformation campaigns”.

“While the President has been diligent and personally committed to his own Christian faith, there’s certainly folks who are intent on spreading falsehoods about the president and his values and beliefs,” he said.

About 60 percent of the people polled said that they learned about Obama’s purportedly Muslim beliefs from the media. This is a good indication that their wrong opinions are perpetuated by misinformation. Dubois is quick to point out that Obama’s faith plays in important part in his life, and that he has discussed this in numerous speeches.
