Joel Weinberger Testimony On Thanksgiving Attack

A rabbi name Joel Weinberger who was badly beaten by several teens testified that they were crying out the words “Jew, Jew!” as they struck him over and over. The hate crime happened on Thanksgiving Day and all of the Rabbi’s clothes were ripped off, including his hat and yarmulke.

Joel Weinberger who was attacked by the teens stated that they repeatedly punched his face. The victim is a father of four and is 26 years old; he is a local Hassidic rabbi and well-respected man in his own community. As a result of the attack the Rabi ended up sustaining multiple fractures to the face as well as a broken eye socket.

The Rabbi had to have three steel implants put into his cheek because the beating he received from the teenage boys was so severe. The yeshiva teacher was hit from the back and soon after lost consciousness, testifying at an evidentiary hearing. When he woke up he tried to get away; however the teen who were attacking him continued to do until he blacked out once again. Both of the 15 year old boys who were involved in the commission of the crime have been arrested for the assault which is being considered a hate crime.
