Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America:Christian Right Slams Obama

Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America:Christian Right Slams Obama – Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America is a fictional piece written by Conservative Christians detailing all that will go wrong if Obama is elected as president.Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America is below.

“I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat.”Now in October of 2012, after seeing what has happened in the last four years.” America is no longer “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”"Many of our freedoms have been taken away by a liberal Supreme Court and a majority of Democrats in both the House and the Senate, and hardly any brave citizen dares to resist the new government policies any more.”"Certainly, I think, younger evangelicals may be swayed by the rhetoric and charisma of Obama without really having the historical perspective of what allowing liberal Democrats to control government would do.”
“I think a lot of Americans are not connecting the dots, that this would be the first time since 1965 that liberals have dominated the White House, Congress
and, potentially, the Supreme Court.”
“The agenda of the ACLU, the agenda of liberal activist judges in their dissenting opinions, the agenda of the homosexual activists, the agenda of the environmental activists, the agenda of the National Education Association, the agenda of the global warming activists, the agenda of the abortion rights activists, the agenda of the gun control activists, the agenda of the euthanasia supporters, the agenda of the one-world government pacifists, the agenda of far-left groups in Canada and Europe – all of these agendas were there in plain sight, and all of these groups provided huge support for Senator Obama. The liberal agenda was all there. But too many people just didn’t want to see it. Christians didn’t take time to find out who Barack Obama was when they voted for him. Why did they risk our nation’s future on him? It was a mistake that changed the course of history.”

Why is the religious right so focused on homosexuals? Why do they relate being gay to being a pedophile? These are two different topics. If you listen to them, all gay people are pedophiles and all straight people are saints. Haven’t seen any studies, but I would bet my house that the straight group has a higher percentage of pedophiles. I guess it might indicate experiences these people have had within their religious groups as children with people they have come to see as gay (priests, ministers, youth ministers). Or even more frightening,it reflects their own tendencies. We do tend to expect others to behave as we do.
It seemed that a great deal of this prediction of doom centered on gays. No, I am not gay, just know some who I would trust to spend time with my children more than I would the boy next door, go to church every Sunday, repressed and confused about sexuality and therefore likely to act out straight person.
While we are speaking of gays, why do the religious right blame gays for the break down of family values? They claim that the family group will be destroyed by allowing gays the right to establish a committed relationship. Of course, the fact that the church has removed all restrictions against divorce has not affected the integrity of the family one bit. How many in your church have walked away from this sacred promise? How about your minister? Then there is the churches’ claim that God wants you to be prosperous. I believe that God does want you to be prosperous. I just don’t define prosperity as the accumulation of wealth minus the responsibility to use it wisely and to help your fellow man. Whatever happened to entertaining strangers because you might be entertaining Christ unawares? I think most people misinterpret the “entertain”. They think it means throw a party for everyone who thinks, looks, and acts like you, and bar the door against the lowlifes who for whatever reasons have not attained the same level of success.
Pat Buchanan, one of the religious right icons, explained it very well. He says government should not force blacks and whites and even more so poor and rich to intermingle because this will lead to the “incapables” (that’s you folks who don’t have a few million) to take the resources of the “capables” ( you know- the wealthy). Face it, the wealthy have been playing the religious groups for years because they know all it takes is invoking God’s name to get these people into a frenzy. George Bush told them if they voted for him he would let religious leaders participate in government. Funny thing happened on the way to the White House, he forgot to fund that particular program.
What the religious right want to see in this country is called a theocracy not a democracy. You know the kind of government that Iran has where the clergy control every aspect of a person’s life. The good old days that the religious right refer to were the days when they could burn people at the stake for not worshipping their God in their prescribed manner, or just anyone they had a grudge against and could accuse of being a witch. They had a fool proof way of identifying them too. It kind of reminds me of the Republican campaign this year. Tie the accused up and throw them in the river. If they sink and drown theyrer innocent. If they float, they are witches and it is your duty to burn them at the stake or pile stones on top of them until their lungs collapse and they suffocate. This is actually a much better way because it takes longer to die.Of course we are way beyond believing in witches – oh wait a minute, one of Sarah Palin’s religious counselors brags about hounding a witch out of his town. Guess I was wrong.

I have never been so embarrassed to be Christian. My Christian leaders have become such lairs. Even people in my church lie about Obama. And–they believe everything they read (such as he is a Muslim). I wonder how God will judge my Christian brothers? Look at what the Christian right did to McCain in 2001 in order to get Bush (whom i stupidity voted for twice)in office. They started the rumor that McCain’s black child was from an affair. When indeed she was adapted. Wow-thank God he loves the Christian sinners and lairs.

I, too, am embarrassed. I trust, however, those unbelievers who have read or heard about this “letter” are intelligent enough to realize that this person does not speak on behalf of God, the Bible, or the church. I found it interesting that the author talked about “significant implications for Christians” in the introductions, yet failed to explain why/how Obama’s predicted policies are un-Christian or unbiblical. (As far as I could tell there was not a single reference to Scripture from pages 2 to 15!) Perhaps he/she believes that such explanations are self-evident–e.g., when it comes to abortion, marriage & pornography. But since when do privatized healthcare & education, unrestricted access to firearms, lower taxes, and an interventionist foreign policy represent a “biblical” position? I fear that too many of my brothers and sisters have convinced themselves that, because the Republican party is “right” on the issues of abortion and marriage, they must be “right” when it comes to everything else. Come on folks, we’re that naive…are we?

  4. A Message In A Name | Oct 30, 2008 | Reply

Did you know that all names have a message? A message in a name. The message depends on the person/persons interacting with the name. Focus on the Family.

Cross out a letter of the name beging with the letter of the word. For instance cross out the letter in Focus on the Family and continue until you have crossed out all letters. This message only pertains to the interaction with McCain. Here is the message.

Yesterday, Satan’s invisible organization used fear, lies, negativism on Americans to help energize McCain’s failing campaign.

As a Barack Obama supporter, I beleive that the person that wrote this letter did not beleive in their country. I feel that the person that did this took it too extreme.

I think that for one, gay and lesiban people should have some rights. I beleive that being gay or lesiban should be their choice, and that if they want to have a long term relationship together that is their personal business. The government should not prevent nor encourage the choice of being gay or straight, it should be the choice of the person and his/her own beliefs and people should have equal rights for choosing either.

Next, In regards to the military policy, I agree that wars should not go on forever. I think that we do need to end the Iraq War and that we should not have permanent bases there. I disagree with the letter in which it says that terrorists will control Iraq when we leave, I think that Iraq can build up their own security forces and run their country their own way.

As to giving war prisoners access to civilian courts, I think that this is justified. If you don’t beleive me, I would suggest that you watch the movie “Taxi to the Dark Side”. It shows how we tortured our prisoners, and some were innocent as they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. I also think that they should be able to have access to the secret evidence against them as well as the right to an attorney if they choose to defend them. I feel sorry for the families of those detained. I also beleive that the US should have at least followed the geneva conventions when treating war prisoners.

As to what the letter says about pornography, I would have to say that kids access pornography today via the internet or getting an adult friend to pick up a copy of Playboy. I think that schools, libraries, and parents can still block access to pornography if they want to via good supervision and the use of filtering software like CyberPatrol, iPrism, and R3000, just to name a few.

As to ending the NSA spying, I think that it is justified. I feel that we will not be in more danger if one has to get a court order to wiretap our phone or internet connection. According to ACLU, EFF, and Mark Klein, a former AT&T employee the NSA has wiretapped the entire AT&T network, not just terrorists which I think goes too far. One should have the right to privacy of their communications if they do not break the law. What the NSA did was illegal and they should pay the price.

I disagree with the author that the right to homeschool will be taken away under Barack Obama. Homeschooling has been legal for many years under both democratic and republican administrations. Even if the California case ruling stands, a parent can always get a teaching credential and teach their own child legally under the case ruling.
