Matthew Coletta: 384 Years In Prison For Queens Rampage

Matthew Coletta, the red-car sniper, recently received 384 years in prison after being sentenced for the murder and attempted murder of 14 people in 2006. Coletta went on a rampage throughout Queens, targeting people in red cars and firing at them through the passenger window of his car.
When he entered the courtroom, Coletta told the judge and everyone else, “I would like to thank god or being my strength, for being my rock. What happened to those people on August 26 was despicable and horrendous. I’m not guilty of all these crimes. I would like to thank you, your honor, just for showing up.”
Michael Aloise, the Queens Supreme Court Justice, told Coletta that he could not believe he would come before a courtroom full of people that were affected by his actions and claim to be innocent.
Aloise told Coletta that it was unbelievable that he had “the audacity to stand up here and say you’re not responsible for your actions.”
Todd Upton, 51, was shot and killed by Coletta when the shooter pulled up next to him and shot through the window. The Upton family said that they were so grateful to finally see the man responsible for their loss behind bars.
