Michelle Obama and Laura Bush Flight 93 Honor On 9/11 Anniversary

Michelle Obama and Laura Bush Flight 93 Honor On 9/11 Anniversary – While many are flooding to the ground zero site to honor the victims of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Michelle Obama and Laura Bush are honoring the victims of Flight 93 at the crash site. The first thing that most noticed was that the earth had completely healed where the plane had landed nine years ago. In the crash 40 passengers and crew perished.
The crash took place in western Pennsylvania, and marked the first time that both first ladies have spoken publicly together. Michelle Obama made sure to thank Laura Bush for helping the country make it through such a difficult time.
The crowd that gathered in front of them was filled with American flags and bushels of flowers. Family members of those who perished wore buttons with pictures of their dearly departed loved ones, often tearing up during the speaking engagement.
“It was clear that these 40 individuals were no strangers to sacrifice,” Obama told the crowd. A number of those who died in the crash had been veterans of the armed forces.
The flight was most famous for having stood up to the terrorists, forcing them to crash land the plane rather than flying the plane into whatever their destination was. A number of phone calls from the plane were made to loved ones, and a movie was made about their final moments.
