Sara Palin is a damn good looking woman, regardless of age or imperfections. That has nothing to do with the issues. She's also a capable, energetic, overachiever, but she is unfortunately an example of the Peter principle which states that each person in government or the corporate job market will achieve her or his threshhold of incompetence. She has already gone beyond her level of qualifications. She's not the sharpest marble in the cooky jar and she's been a handicap to the McCain campaign since she joined the ticket. I can onnly hope this will stop the McCain Express.

lparkman - why would someone call Republicans stupid - you jest right? Let's see, supporting Bush, who has been the most liberal man to ever see office in the U.S. when it came to fiscal stuff. Supporting someone for VP who you do not even know but can read a good speech. You would have for VP, one heartbeat away from the Presidency, a woman who is not allowed to speak to the press. After she has had a few appearances on Meet the Press, Face the Nation etc,, then maybe we can decide if she has a brain.
If someone asks me about supreme court cases, without hesitation I am bringing up the eminent domain case. I would apologize for forgetting the names, but I sure remember how REPUBLICAN appointed judges took away PRIVATE property to give it to a PRIVATE company.
You support a woman who , just like Bush, fired everyone who knew what they were doing and hired all cronies.
Her one claim ti fame, and the reason why Alaskans loved her - she put a windfall tax on the oil companies. Think about that. The person you admire to "restore" your conservative values - a windfall tax on oil companies.
So, like Republican stalwarts Hitchens, Buckely and Will, I think it is pretty easy to call then stupid.
my my, funny how you can call someone a terrorist, a muslim, heck, even call him the anti-christ - but you get upset at being called stupid?
Maybe when you quit voting fomr someone just because they have a R behind their name and realize there is nothing Republican about them, people will stop calling you that.
Maybe when you stop spouting talk radio drivel and learn to actually research a little TRUTH......nahhhhhhhh never happen. Easier to demonize everyone else.
Stupid

She looks like a woman in her 40s who has put on some heavy make up. Do the Republicans find middle aged women ugly? I know that Rush said terrible things about Hillary's 60 year old face and McCain called Chelsea Clinton ugly. What's with the double standards for how women look vs the men on their ticket? We should be examining how she thinks and makes decisions more than what she looks like anyway.

I think most people would love to look that good on a magazine cover. I actually can't see any blemishes. Republicans should actually look at McCain without makeup sometimes. The guy is old and has had skin cancer and few people ever see him without the airbrushing and touchups. If the media wanted to make a Republican look bad, it wouldn't be hard to do.

"The tag line, “and that’s the problem” is what annoys me. Elitist snobbery is what I call that."

Yeah, our current VP had to give commands to fighter jets on 9-11, but it doesn't matter if Sarah Palin has never before 6 weeks ago shown any interest in foreign affairs whatsoever. Would you call it "elite snobbery" if I refused to take medical advice from my electrician? Why are public officials any different? Apparently a whole lot of Americans think they would do an awesome job as leader of the free world, whether they've adequately prepared for the job or not.

This isn't a movie where you like a character who's ordinary folks just like you and saves the world. This is real life where people die because of ignorance and stupidity in high places. Maybe it will take another 8 years for people to realize that. Or maybe we'll get over our inferiority complex and cast a ballot for someone who might be a little smarter, and little more qualified, a little more accomplished, a little better at communicating than we are. McCain or Obama fit the bill. But not Sarah Palin.

I'm shocked there is a controversy about this Newsweek cover. I'm looking at my copy right now and don't see what the fuss is all about. She looks the way she always looks. The wrinkles under her eyes are visible but so what? I wasn't aware it was a crime for a woman to have wrinkles - that sounds like a pretty sexist attitude to me! The Sept. 29th cover of Newsweek has a head shot of Henry Paulson, complete with wrinkles, dark circles under his eyes, beard stubble and a vein bulging on the side of his head along with the title "King Henry". Why isn't anyone complaining about that? Could it be because nobody cares what he looks like - they only care about what's inside his head? Palin's supporters aren't doing her any favors by making such a fuss about her appearance on a magazine cover. It just trivializes her and is insulting to women who care about serious issues.

I think its wrong to be biased in the media and this published picture was not right. However, she still looks pretty good. Move on! Go Obama!
