Obama Shirley Sherrod Apology:Obama Blames Media – President Barack Obama has apologized to an ousted Agricultural official who was asked to leave her post after a number of comments that she made during an NAACP meeting were taken out of context on several right-leaning websites.Shirley Sherrod went to the media after she was unfairly fired from her position, and the story garnered enough attention to have Barack Obama himself take notice.

She was forced to resign on Monday while she was riding in her car. She said that she declined to resign the first time she was called, but when she was called a second time and was asked to submit her resignation via Blackberry; she complied.

Obama had not commented on the story until she had received her post back, and had been apologized to by several individuals within the white house. The clip of her saying that she did not help a foreclosing farmer because he was white was taken out of context, because directly after the statement she said that they went on to become friends and she learned that helping people is not a “black or white thing.”
The clip was posted on a republican blog and quickly made its way around the Internet. Clearly the officials who made the call did not do their research, and pre-emptively fired her for her comments. She also received an apology from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who said that he had made the call in error.
Now Shirley Sherrod has her job back, and has received apologies from some people in very high places. All seems to be well.
