Obama Nobel Peace Prize – This morning the Nobel Committee announced that President Obama has been awarded the peace prize “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”.Mr. Obama said :
“I am both surprised and deeply humbled by the award.Let me be clear, I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.”

Brooke Astor Son Guilty – Anthony Marshall who is the son of Brooke Astor was found guilty on 14 counts against him, including grand larceny involving the theft of cash and art, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to defraud his mother.Marshall took advantage of Astor after she developed Alzheimer’s disease from 2000, forcing her to change her will and stealing her $200 million fortune.Marshall,is facing from one to 25 years in prison.

Gourmet Magazine Closing – Gourmet magazine,Cookie,Elegant Bride and Modern Bride are all closing.Earlier today publisher Condé Nast announced that after 70 years Gourmet will be shuttered by the end of the year due to a decline in ad sales.Richard Dorfman, managing director of Richard Alan Inc., a financial advisory and investment company focusing on the media industry said:
“The magazine industry is in a difficult position generally speaking, it’s losing revenue to online advertising and it’s a tough business right now.”
Over 1 million subscribers used to find ideas for meals and how to cook them especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas in the mag.

Palin Catastrophic – Palin ‘Catastrophic’ is not the title of her new book,but it is the term used to describe the former governor by a GOP strategist.Steve Schmidt who selected Palin to become VP during the 2008 campaign blasted her during a speech at The Atlantic’s First Draft of History Conference. Schmidt explained why Palin will never be president:
“It would be “fairly inconceivable” that she could end up being president.In fact, were she to be the nominee we could have a catastrophic election.But my honest view is that she would not be a winning candidate for the Republican Party in 2012.”

AP Top 25 College Football:AP Poll Week 6 – AP poll week 6/AP Top 25 College Football Poll Week 6 has surfaced.Once more the top four are unchanged with Florida at the No. 1 spot,followed by Texas, Alabama and LSU. But the big surprise comes from Virginia Tech that has managed to move up a spot to No. 5, Boise State slipped one to No. 6 and thanks to Gene Chizik Auburn has jumped into the AP Top 25 for the first time this season, landing at No. 17.College Football Rankings Week 6 are after the jump.

Maya Angelou Hospitalized – Maya Angelou has been hospitalized.The poet and best-selling author,was supposed to be honored at the BraveHeart Awards in Los Angeles last night but was taken to the hospital instead.We will keep you updated as soon as we know more about Angelou’s state.
