    Question for presidential candidates…
I am a Vietnam Vet and believe national security is the most improtant issue we must deal with. God forbid, but if there were to be another terrorist attack, the ecconomic problems would quickly become second place.
I have a problem with making any troop withdrawal time line public. NEVER TELL THE ENEMY ABOUT YOUR MILITARY PLANS! Wouldn’t we like it if they told us in advance of their plans!

I’m curious if Barack Obama loves anything about America. He wants to change everything, and while I agree some things need changed a lot doesn’t. His wife was just recently proud of this country. Barack tells us all that is wrong every time he speaks. What does he love about America? What does he want to leave in place? What is right in this country to him?

Barack is attacking the negative issues first in the U.S which is the way to go given all of the problems here right now. One can’t talk about all the beautiful things right now while we have too many issues to deal with. The problems with a lot of Americans is that they are so used hearing the usual “America #1″ and falling into that black hole without much thought about what’s really going on. The rest of the world hates us right now, and we have to focus on what’s going on HERE in the U.S. and take care of OUR problems RIGHT NOW. We have to stop pointing fingers and be mature about issues and stop blabbing away at who’s at fault for our OWN issues. Wake up people!

I’m concerned with how I am going to feed my three kids, let alone how I am going to pay for their college. I feel that the country is going to hell in a hand basket, and with McCain in office it looks to be like 4 more years of the same things that got us into this mess. I think we DO need change, and I don’t think Obama’s pointing this out should be considered offensive. Heck, I don’t like the USA very much right now, and I live here! I’m just saying we are not perfect and Obama’s saying we have problems doesn’t mean he doesn’t love this country. I think he has an idea of what we need done around here much more than McCain does. Tonight’s debates should be interesting.

Both presidential candidates believe we should purchase prescription drugs from other countries to hold down health care costs. However, they both believe we should keep businesses in the U.S. The problems with imported drugs from China and Canada are well documents. How can they take this position knowing the quality of pharmaceuticals overseas is not up to FDA standards, and the fact doing so will put phrma companies and their many employees out of business?

The war needs to be the main issue, for who cares if you can feed your kids, when your getting nuked. This country was perfect at one time, until clinton added some new things, that bush took advantage of. Thanks allot Clinton administrtion. In my opinion allot of this is all Clinton’s fault, he should have killed Osama bin ladin when he had the chance. CHANGE is the worse line i have ever heard. All new presidents change something, thats a given. Socialized health care, is dumb, why dont we just take a butcher knife to all are patients. oh and besides that we already owe billions in that area. If your concerned about how your going to feed your kids, why in the heck would you even vote for higher taxes in the first place?!!

  9. Sam | Oct 7, 2008 | Reply

@ andrew: Nobody’s voting to raise taxes. Both candidates have said they will lower them.

Question for the debate: With both candidates having promised to work in a bi-partisan manner and to avoid personal attacks, can we please stop the vitriole and have your best description of how you are going to help put the economy back on track?

    For Senator Obama,
Fannie Mae initiated a pilot program in 1999 (before Bush administration) that initiated new allowances for 15 banks (later became the norm) to give loans to people with lower credit and to allow for subprime mortgages. Do you honestly believe it was the Bush Administration that caused this economic crisis? Or is it more likely that laws and policies much older than the latest administration dug the hole we are currently in?

I VOTE TOM BROKAW FOR PRESIDENT. He’s the best man in the room right now.

Senator Obama. Do you really like to hear yourself speak that much? Do you understand the meaning of a timer?

And say helooo to your new president, Mr. Barack Obama.

Yes I care about how I’m going to feed my kids. Pretty much that’s my main concern…what good is a safe country if I can’t feed my kids? What good is health care coverage? What good is the house I live in, IF I CANT FEED MY KIDS?
Yes, there are issues, but what I’m concerned with is how to SURVIVE. How about the blaming stops and we elect someone who will get on the road to fixing things?!

A few questions about the debate, what would you say were the senators weaknesses and strengths? what other questions should have been asked in the debate?
