I find McCains VP choice quite astonishing. He accuses Obama of being a celebrity and his VP choice poses for Vogue. He accuses Obama of having no experience and, yet, his VP has next to none. He accuses Obama of not saying he will do enough for the environment, yet his VPs husband works for BP…interesting… Not only that, but his VP choice is under investigation for possibly abusing her power as a governor, which I have to say from what I’ve read it doesnt look too promising for her. If she abused her power as a governor, possibly she would do the same as a VP, you never know. Im not saying she would, but theres the possibility. Just because shes a woman doesnt mean women will flock to her. I just think he could have made a better choice.

JFriedreck,
Sounds like you need to also look at what the conservatives are saying rather than just the liberals.
Palin is a heroine who was fought corruption “against her own party” I might add, in Alaska.
“She” didn’t abuse her power, but rather someone under her, who falsely said he was acting under Sarah’s command.
Experience? Obama has “zero” executive experience. Palin? 2 years. Also, just one month as a governor would give one more experience to be President than merely serving in the Senate… Palin wins this one hands down. Also, with or without her experience, she’s talented, and a powerful reformer. She makes things happen and is a quick study. No worries here.

IF THE THEME OF OBAMAS CAMPAIGN IS CHANGE .JOE BIDEN REPRESENTS THE SAME OLD POLITICS WERE USED TO.IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK AND WALKS LIKE A DUCK ITS PROBABLY A DUCK,SO MUCH FOR A CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.

Sarah Paline brings a lot to the table that will appeal to many diverse voters. She is not a one sided candidate. Adding 2 years Executive experience rather than 2 years of Legislative experience is another plus for the Governor.
John McCain picked the very best choice for VP to help him shake up Washington. I am thankful he was willing to choose Sarah Paline.
It is about time that America finally elected a woman to one of the two highest offices in the country and this is the year to do it. I don’t advocate to elect just any woman but Sarah Paline will make a great first. She has what it takes to succeed.

Then that makes her more qualified than John McCain. Let’s just dump him and elect her for President.

Scandal involving Sarah Palin, her 5th child may be her daughter’s!
seo | Aug 30, 2008 | Reply
I wonder about Palin’s judgement. What kind of an idiot would take off on an eight hour flight AFTER her water had broken? On her fifth baby? When the baby is already identified as being in health-challenged? What if the baby had died in the air between Seattle and Anchorage?
It’s not as if there aren’t plenty of doctors and hospitals in Texas, and someone with her position could have received the best possible care instantly.
So instead she hops on the flight (against express airline rules), and flies home. Why? Why not have the baby in Texas, and bring it home a couple days later?
I will be very interested to read what doctor she consulted with in Texas before setting off on this trip.
This fits into the category of things that are none of peoples’ damned business until a persons become a candidate for high public office. Then people have a legitimate interest in how your actions illustrate your judgement.

Liberals couldn’t wait to bash Palin. Again, they show how they take votes for granted. Palin has shaken up the corrupt Republican party of Alaska, vetoed more wasteful spending bills, cut taxes for all, balanced the state budget and is the true outsider in this race. that’s why you hate her, your change mantra was already hollow, now it’s nothing to believe in except the same old far-left policies that see you lose election after election after election and end up bashing America over and over again.
The worst thing was insulting again small town America. The American values and ideals of this country come straight from small towns all over. That’s why liberals are so angry. 2 elitist liberals who vote 100% with the extreme of their party, take no principled stands or positions on anything vs. 2 reformers who aren’t afraid to challenge their own party when they are wrong, one a mother of 5 children who came from a small town mayor, to governor and now has the chance to be the 1st VP in history…….which is the real “change”?
That’s why liberals are so scared because they’ve been outsmarted again. That’s why they lose and they’ll always lose. It’s no wonder Clinton, a centrist is the only Democrat to win twice. There will never be a far-left liberal elected to the White House again, this country doesn’t want that anymore.
If you want to talk about investigations, Obama for all of his change empty suit talk, could have challenged the corrupt Chicago political machine but he never did! He is a big part of that corruption. Rezko scandal, Anti-American pastor, starting his political campaign at the house of domestic terrorist Bill Ayers who bombed the Pentagon, NYC Police headquarters and killed police officers and was proud of it. The Republicans are going to expose him starting this week. This is their chance to start it. You had your smoke and mirrors phoney convention, now you have to pay the price for the fraud. Obama campaign knows what they are trying to do and that’s run a “stealth campaign”. Don’t talk about anything specific, no details on anything just platitudes and generalities, change positions every chance you get when no one paying attention, hide his political/terrorist affiliations of his past with help of the Lib media, use phony charm and words to make people feel better with no record, no substance, nothing to point to, no bills that say “I changed people’s lives by passing this or this”…You can run from your past affiliations and lack of any record Obama, but you can’t hide for long..just a matter of time until you are fully exposed as the phony that you are.

about ayers, obama own words about him were that he was “mainstream”. Yeah Barack, he’s mainstream i mean i know a bunch of domestic terrorists who live next door, it’s normal isn’t it that’s pretty mainstream. obama disqualified any chance to ever get my vote by having starting his political career at the house of an enemy of America. any person with a conscience would call into question that type of judgement and character. i would never vote for someone who did that. i don’t want to wake up and know i voted for someone who is close friends with a domestic enemy of America. i’d be betraying my own country, that will never happen.

Gov. Palin seems to be a woman of quality, integrity & humility. I will vote for the McCain/Palin ticket because I have more confidence McCain’s judgment overall than in Obama’s. Obama’s extreme positions are frightening and tend toward Marxism – I don’t care what color he is!

This does not change the fact that 5 months ago, the Bristol was supposedly at home recovering from Mono. If that is the case, how did she get pregnant during that time.
Here is what I believe.
She is not pregnant right now; she had a baby in april and Sarah (mother) covered for her. The reason for covering this is still hidden and could be something that will shock us all when it unravels.
Then, secondly, if she truly is pregnant right now, it would be her second child becuase because girls at that age are so fertile that they can immediately conceive after giving birth.
About Obama, this has nothing to do with him. How can the GOP blame Obama for this? He is like all Americans that are just watching this desparate housewives episode develop.

Why is it that if someone (e.g. Obahma) expresses any interest in the world outside of the US – and how the US’s actions may be influencing it – he is seen as being anti-US? The only foreign experience that currently seems to be given any value is that gathered in the military (an important role in times of war, but not known for building bridges with the rest of the world…). Love the comment equating Obahma’s views with Marxism -amazing!!

Well since no one wants to point out the obvious, just the glitz and glamour. No one wants to actually hear what she says in her speeches let me point this out. Sarah Palin got into politics after she joined the PTA! As an Alaskan resident, politics are not very complicated here. Yes she fights for our right but definately is not capable of fighting on a national level. Again her seat in politics derives from becoming part of a Parent teacher conference in a small town of Wasilla.-the meth capitol of Alaska. Woo Hoo

I am a woman who believes in the rights of all, not just for women. It is obvious that Sarah Palin does not believe in the rights for all people. She has done nothing to better the lives of the natives of Alaska. She believes that a womans body is hers to choose. She believes that if a woman becomes pregnant even if the pregnancy is from being raped or incest. She believes the woman must have the child, or be jailed. She is trying to take us back to policies and laws before the civil rights. She scares me. She is corrupt (facts have proven that), a liar (proven), unfair(proven) and ethnocentric.

At first I was as surprised as everyone else at McCain’s choice for VP. But after the convention and some time his decision now appears to be brilliant! The liberal get pissed because they think he’s doing it to get the woman’s vote. Isn’t that what politics is all about, getting the vote and getting in office to serve your country. Obama had first crack at doing that and he ignored it. Too bad, so sad. Sarah energized the Republican party and it’s working! The democrats may not like it and they can slam her all the want but it won’t help. She is a big girl and will take care of herself in any debate. Look at it this way, she is a big dog who will not sit on the porch. No way, she will come out and bite you.

I just have two things to say. First everyone should do their own research and a lot of it. Learn what both parties stand for and are against. Instead of just listening to speeches, read up on stuff. Politicians are full of crap and basically say a lot of stuff the people want to hear.
Second Sarah Palin, if the Republicans are elected, will set back women’s rights decades. I don’t know why any grown woman who values her ability to choose what she can and can’t do would vote for her. She lost my vote with her beliefs.

Again, voting for a women who says no to abortion if the pregnancy is caused by rape or incest is no self respecting person. It is disgusting to take that choice away from anyone.

Democrats key in on “oh but what if the pregnancy is from a rape or incest” This one-liner is just that a one-liner that only serves to continue all abortions. Face it most abortions are from people not taking proper precautions. Being thoughtless then becoming pregnant was a decision you make, and taking an innocent life is a decision that will haunt you for the rest of your life.
If the democrats want to continue having abortions go ahead, one day we won’t have to worry about democrats there won’t be any. Maybe they’ll put themselves on the extinct species list.

What Sarah Palin needs to say is this, “You’re right, I don’t have as much foreign affair experience as John McCain or Joe Biden, but I do have as much foreign affair experience as Barack Obama did when he started running for president and I’m just the Vice-Pres candidate. However I am a quick study. I was never a mom before I became a mom. I was never a PTA pres. before I became one. I was never a mayor before I became one, and I was never a govenor before I became one.
The thing is that there are plenty of advisors and people with great foreign affair experince in Washington, but how many are in D.C. that can cut through the political games, red tape, and have the wherewithall to actually get something done for the American people?”
If she says that, or something to that effect it will totally shut down any of her critics and the middle class will love it!

No,”Jogin”, ALL mothers out there do not “love her” (nor, as a matter of fact, do all Alaskans); and many rational, thinking, informed women recognize her as a throw-back to right wing conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly who in the ’70’s railed and rallied against passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. I am an Independent who was leaning towards McCain until Sarah Palin was added to the ticket. McCain bowed to pressure from the fundamentalist Christian right and that rigid extreme faction of the GOP frightens me. Palin is acceptable to me as a VP, but not as the next President of the US in 4-8 years, or much sooner if something should happen to McCain during his term of office(death; or illness, OR being pressured to step down by his own party in order to advance Palin). Even though Biden is a bit more to the left than I’m personally comfortable with, I have confidence that he has the ability, experience and statesmanship to lead the country should something happen to Obama. And, while Palin apparently uses her oft-repeated term “Joe 6-Pack” to represent, and identify with, the average American, I find it not only increasingly annoying, but also belittling, and sexist. The picture that comes to my mind is of Homer Simpson, and while he’s amusing as a bumbling ineffective, lazy, male chauvenist TV character, I certainly don’t want the Homer Simpsons of the country to elect our next president.

It amazes me that anyone who is female would ever support Sarah Palin. This women has done nothing but lie. Trig Palin is her daughters. If not why can’t she produce his birth certificate? Where are her financial records? She has denied them now and when she was Gov. and Mayor. It turned out when they were exposed she omitted the fact she owned a business which was illegal. She refuses to testified and had to be court ordered. She charged women for their own rape kits and was the only state to do so under her reign. If the women couldn’t afford it they were tough out of luck.

I think it’s funny that this is SUCH a controversy. Obama’s been in almost every magazine. Why can’t she?…Especially in one that’s good, widely distributed and that people will actually want to read!
Not only that but GOOD FOR HER for shaking things up a bit and MAKING people pay attention! I don’t recall any VP receiving this much attention in my life time… way to be! I don’t believe she’s done anything worth all this NEGATIVE speculation!
On a side note…
There’s a huge difference between the ‘celebrity’ status McCain speaks of and interviewing for a publication. Celebrity implies that it’s a fad and is being made more into a popularity contest. The presidential election should be just that–an election based on qualifications and ability to lead this country. I don’t knock Obama for his speaking abilities–he is a very effective and persuasive speaker and much of his ‘celebrity’, no doubt, can be attributed to that–but I worry about his consistancy and ability to lead.

If lying is what she has to succede, then maybe, but she is not even good at that. Plus, she is a bigoted, immoral whining dummy. It took her 6 years to get a degree in journalism from 5 colleges. What’s with all the winking at the debate which was just flirtish immorality with no substance. Did she think that is going to move some guys to vote for her? It is most likely worn out anyway. Foreign policy to her is Putin flying over Alaska. Get serious, we have enough problems in the U S without her & Sydney can’t fly a jet without wrecking it McCain. 20 hours of actual combat flying duty per 100 days in the Hanoi Hilton. Congress has the power and there are very, very few members that I respect and trust. Let’s demand one term so whomever is elected cares about the job and not winning the next election. Now im for McCain and Palin because i am a small buisness owner and also pro Gun, and i am in agreement with many other things that the Republican party has brought to the table. However, i do think Barack Obama also has alot to offer to this country, but he is way to far to the left for me to ever consider voting for him. The problem here is that we have one party way to the right and the other party way to the left, whats left in the middle? nothing! and that is sad because there are alot of people that are left in the middle with empty hands.
