It’s ironic that Obama’s mother was a Christian from Kansas. What is it about Kansas? Something about the state not only allows a Wichita preacher full of hate-messages to grow a congregation there, but also allows a Fred Phelps Sr. You remember Fred. He’s the Topeka, KS Baptist minister who picketed the funeral of Matthew Shepard — the gay University of Syoming student murdered because of his sexual orientation. Preacher Phelps was the guy holding the “Faggot” signs. Now the preacher is picketing the funerals of American soldiers killed in Iraq for some sin he thinks they committed. As a Christian I feel DEEPLY offended and worried by the conscious effort of certain groups that call themselves Christian to perpetuate lies and attempt to manipulate Americans through fear and misinformation. Shame on them.
