Star Wars Day Nationwide Thanks To Katie First-grader In Evanston, Ill.

The unofficial nationwide Star Wars day was initially sparked by a first-grader who was bullied because she took her Star Wars water bottle to school with her.
Katie was told that Star Wars wasn’t for boys and that she shouldn’t bring it to school with her anymore.
Luckily for Katie, her mother is a blogger for Chicagonow.com and spread the word to people all over the web as to what happened to her daughter as well as what is happening to a lot of youth with regards to bullying.
Katie’s mom says that it is hard to see the boys that bullied her daughter as faceless tormentors, because she knows them.
Her mother said on her blog that she knows the boys and they are good individually and Katie plays with them quite frequently. When her mother told her that it was okay to be different, Katie told her that she already feels different, wearing glasses and being adopted.
She said that now because of the Star Wars bottle, she is even more different than everyone else. The tens of thousands of people who have reached out to her via the internet are dedicated Star Wars fans who have been moved by her plight.
