Quebec Earthquake

Toronto Earthquake:Earthquakes Today – Earlier today an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was felt in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa, as Canada prepares to host 2010 G8/G20 Summit and welcome dozens of world leaders.

The quake was considered a magnitude 5.7 by the Geological Survey of Canada, whereas the Geological Service of the United States has downsize it to 5.5.
The epicenter of the seism was located about 30 km north of Buckingham, Quebec a little town which is located about 25 km north-east of Ottawa.

Despite claims of walls of buildings in downtown Montreal shaking ,we are happy to reveal that there were no damages nor injuries to report.

Whereas in Ottawa several tall buildings were evacuated and the streets were filled with workers who were ran out of their offices and who were banned from returning to their posts for several minutes.

People on the scene have revealed that they are now visible cracks on the walls of the building which houses the Parliamentary Press Gallery. Additionally cracks have also appeared in the building housing the office of the AFP in Ottawa.

The midday temblor also rattled areas in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York.

The last earthquake of this importance in the region took place in 1988 and caused minor damage, particularly in the Saguenay region, 500 km northeast of Montreal.

As stated above the quake caused more fear than harm.
